Frequently Asked Questions

Does the application have to be hosted on your server?
Yes. The Spawtz sports management application is provided on a ASP or "Appplication Service Provider" model, and the application must therefore be hosted on our servers.

How often do you backup the data on the server?
Data is backed up and moved offsite daily.

What happens if your server goes down?
As part of the service we provide a backup URL in case our primary server is unavailable. This backup URL is hosted on a different server at a different site and draws its data from the backups that are created each day. As such, should the primary server be unavailable you will have access to the secondary site which will be at most 24 hours out of date.

Why does it cost so much/so little/per team?
When you choose to use our services there will be no setup fee for the work we will do to customise the application to use your look and feel, to use your payment processing system or to use your registration process. Similarly, there will be no yearly support fee. We charge on a per registration basis. The more registrations you have, the less we will charge you for each registration. See the pricing guide for more information on prices. We find this method of charging works well for our clients as if you are doing well and therefore attracting many registrations, we charge you less per registration. If you have a slow season then we charge you less for that season as you will have fewer registrations. Charging in this manner enables us to form a partnership with you, as when you do well, we do well.

How do I start accepting payments online?
In order to begin accepting payments online you will need to set up an account with an online payment processing gateway. We have previously dealt with WorldPay, Barclay Merchant Services EPDQ (in the UK) and NedBank’s Iveri system (in South Africa). If you do not already have an account with an online payment processing gateway we suggest you use one of these three options (we can recommend the right one for you and tell you how to start the process). If you already have an account with a different gateway, that’s fine too – we will integrate your existing gateway so you don’t need to find a new one.

How secure is the database?
The database is hosted on our secure network. The network is hosted behind a GB1000 firewall (GnatBox 1000) which allows access to the network on port 80 only. As and when security patches become available for the operating system and database server they are applied as soon as possible.

No credit card details are stored on the Spawtz servers.
